Food with '40s Flair, Israeli Coffee and Rosa's Guac - Bethesda, MD ...

Get caught up with the food scene in Montgomery County and adjacent Washington, DC, neighborhoods with "1 Meat, 3 Sides." This week, a new eatery with 1940s flare takes center plate:

One Meat:

A new restaurant set to open in January in the Cabin John Shopping Center in Potomac will have a retro, 1940s theme, Potomac Patch reported:

Benny Fischer promises big portions and reasonable prices when he opens?Benny?s Bar and Grill?... [which will]?honor Fischer?s late grandfather, Benny Bortnick, a presence in the DC wrestling scene in the 1940s.

The casual, sit-down eatery will be the culmination of 30 years of experience in the restaurant and food service industries, Fischer told Potomac Patch. The menu will be comprised of steaks, chops, chicken, seafood, burgers, sandwiches and more, and the dining experience will be similar to that of Houston?s?now the?Woodmont Grill?and?Clyde?s of Chevy Chase, Potomac Patch reported.

?We?re going to serve the best drinks in town,? Fischer said, adding that he?ll focus on correct proportions. His pet peeves in restaurant dinning?tiny plates, weak drinks and high prices?will have no place at the new grill, Potomac Patch added.

Washington, DC, restaurateur?Chef Geoff Tracy?opened his sixth restaurant?and fourth Chef Geoff?s?in Rockville, at 12256 Rockville Pike,?on Wednesday, Rockville Patch reported.

Tracy displayed a sense of humor as his?Facebook status updates described the chaos of the restaurant's opening.

"Mock service training is going on lunch and dinner," he posted on Facebook on Friday, Sept. 7. "There are still contractors all over the place. Chairs arrived yesterday. Tables today. Booths tomorrow. Electrician inadvertently cut a beer line and a newly installed belt on a make up air vent created a plume of dust to cover everything in the kitchen. THIS is why I don't carry a gun."

In January, Tracy will?move to New York City, where his wife,?television journalist?Norah O?Donnell,?recently began a new gig as co-anchor of?CBS This Morning.
